MELISSA WHITE-INSTRUCTOR
"Miss Melissa"
My dancing career started at the age of 7 where I attended Dance Factory in West Sacramento as part of their Dance Vision Performing Troupe, studying mainly jazz and tap. As a member of the dance company, we have had the privilege of performing multiple times at the California State Fair, as well as other local county fairs in the area, and also presented our own recital performances in the summer. In high school, I was a part of the Saint Francis Dance Company where we hosted the Winterfest Dance Concert every year in February. During my time in the company, we competed in the Spotlight Competition in Riverside where we won silver and gold awards for our group numbers. I have also been a part of many dance and theatre productions such as Best of Broadway and the Nutcracker presented by Pamela Hayes Classical Ballet Training where I studied ballet and pointe.

I am currently a full time student at the University of Phoenix going for my BS in Accounting. I also work for the state of California. When I am not working, going to school, or dancing, I enjoy just relaxing and hanging out with my friends on my free time. I love dancing with Premiere Dance and am glad to be a part of the teaching team.

I started training, formally, in dance in 1983, in Piscataway, NJ. I moved to Sacramento in 1985 where I made my new home. I have been lucky, having been blessed to train with many from here and surrounding areas such as Ron Cisneros, Pepper Von, Tyehimba Kokayi, Bobbi Bader, James Wheatley, Ruth Rosenberg, Jere Curry, Rita Matthews, Pamela Laurentzos, Blanche Brown, Linda Marie Tregle, Priscilla Regalado, Carolyn Himes Tucker, and Cyndi Mitterholzer. I've performed in various dance companies over the years, enjoyed competition to seek placement among my peers, performed in various musicals and other stage productions since youth, and worked freelance as an independent artist. I have experience in patient teaching which does employ classical discipline. I love helping develop such love of the art in others as well as performing myself. I am classically trained in ballet as well as Jazz, Modern, Tap, HipHop, Traditional Native American Tribal, and what I have gleaned from beautiful urban street culture. I teach Krump, HipHop, Breaking, Belly, Caribbean, and my own form of Fusion dance, incorporating what I've learned from my talented mentors and found from within myself.  To sum up..I love dance. For myself, practice of which means continual training and performing; and making new dancers and seeing the joy it brings them.
